About Saelenspace
Hello everyone! I’m Ryan Saelens—but most people call me Mr. Ry.
I created Saelenspace with one simple goal: to make quality education accessible, engaging, and fun for learners of all ages.
Here, I create educational courses, learning games, and creative content designed to spark curiosity and build understanding. I also offer private tutoring, both in person for the Rockford, IL area and online for anyone anywhere.

Quick Bit About Me
A good teacher never stops being a student. I can count on one hand the amount of remarkable teachers I’ve had throughout my life, and although they may be few in number, the impact they have left on me has been tremendous. I only hope to be able to do the same for those that allow me to teach them. I’ve been submersed with art since I was a kid, and I’ve been playing guitar for 17 years. I love to experiment with different drawing techniques and many mediums, such as charcoal, colored pencil, and collage. Along with art and music, philosophy and physics keep my mind curious. I just recently (2024) graduated from Northern Illinois University (NIU) with a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Physics.
I currently work at both Rock Valley College, as the Senior Whiz Kids Instructor and Continuing Education Instructor, and The Boys and Girls Club of Rockford, as a tutor for K-12. On top of this, I have a handful of students that I tutor privately, in art, guitar, and mathematics. With all this said, the most important thing that I have learned about myself, is that I want to continue to feed curious minds.
My journey has been long, but it’s not over yet. I hope it can serve as inspiration for those that find learning, or the words school or college, overwhelming. Just know that when you do something for yourself, and with passion, it makes the stress all the easier to manage.
